A Bitter Fog

In 1983 author Carol Van Strum published her book recording her community’s fight to stop pesticide forest sprays. A Bitter Fog: Herbicides and Human Rights was originally published by the Sierra Club, who has since stopped listing and promoting it. The book recounts a group of rural Oregon residents’ efforts to stop the use of dangerous pesticides and examines the processes by which such poisons are approved for use.
